25th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Fall is upon us. The weather has begun to cool, and programming at St. Margaret Mary is in full swing. It can seem overwhelming the amount of activities that happen here every week, but my hope is that you have an opportunity to find something that feeds you.

Last week ‘That Man is You’ had their inaugural meeting for the year. If you’re a man who has been seeking community, I highly recommend TMIY as an opportunity to connect.  Sept. 21st at 7pm the SHE Shall be Called Woman kicks off, so if you’re a woman looking for community or an opportunity for powerful reflection then this is for you.

We saw the Rycerze Kolumba last week handing out tootsie rolls in their campaign to support people with intellectual disabilities. If you’re a man who feels a stir to give back to our community and beyond, the Knights would love to have you. Deacon Tim has been meeting with a number of individuals interested in our Catholic faith, so if you or someone you know would like to learn more and begin preparing for Sacraments, reach out to the parish office to register for OCIA.

My prayer this week is for all those who come into our parish for Mass, but don’t yet feel like they’ve found where they fit. Whether it’s volunteering with our Gather Faith Formation, engaging with pro-life initiatives, or just spending a little time after Mass talking with other Mass goers, there are so many opportunities to be an integral part of our parish family. If you haven’t made the leap to attend something that catches your eye in the bulletin, consider this a formal invitation.

  • Next Saturday, John Schneider from our parish community will be ordained as a permanent deacon. Please continue to pray for him and his family. Additionally, on Sunday September 27th will be his first Mass as a deacon at 9:00AM. Following this Mass we will be having a light reception to celebrate.

  • This year the Sacrament of Confirmation will be offered to 8th graders as well as freshmen. If you’d like to register, see the bulletin for details.

  • In our lobby at this weekend’s masses, we have a table for information on our Women’s Ministry called, She Shall Be Called Woman, which will be starting on Monday September 21st in McDonnell Hall at 7pm.

  • The Knights have a Rosary this upcoming Monday night at 7:00 PM at the outdoor grotto.

  • All are invited to the Knights sponsored Clergy Appreciation dinner on October 9th, tickets are available through September 27th. This year is special as they are recognizing the Orabutt family for their dedication to the church. Even if you cannot attend, you can support the clergy with a well-wisher donation next weekend.

  • A six week Fall Bible Study is beginning on Tuesday’s starting September 22nd in the Ministry Center on the topic of Paul’s letters to the Philippians. Check the bulletin for details.
